Alberto Saborido Patiño – Physicist | Data Scientist
Presentation
I am passionate about physics and the cutting-edge methods involved in its research. My studies have awakened in me a special interest in data analysis, machine learning, and simulation methods. I am also very interested in detector and electronics studies, a field in which I had the opportunity to work as a research intern. I have specialized in experimental particle physics and am currently completing an international master’s program with a thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Physics, as part of the ATLAS Collaboration. I have also combined my studies in physics with applying my technical knowledge in the industry. These experiences have given me, in addition to solid technical knowledge, strong communication and teamwork skills. I like to face new challenges and enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone.
Professional Experience
Scientific Assistant
Max Planck Institute for Physics, Munich, Germany
March 2025 – present
- Run Monte Carlo simulations using the generator “NNLOJET” to produce next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD predictions for processes involving W bosons and jets. Manage and optimize the associated large-scale numerical computations on the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility, ensuring efficient execution and high-performance computing.
- Develop dedicated grid files for re-evaluating partonic cross sections with different parton distribution functions (PDFs).
- Evaluate the impact of new W boson + jets cross section measurements from Run II ATLAS data at 13 TeV on PDFs.
